Calgary Roots
Val grew up in Calgary and has spent his working life on tile here. The company he runs today - Morina Brothers Inc - was incorporated on November 9, 2016, but the trade started long before that. Years of sub-contract work for Keller Engineering taught him the standards that show up on every job now: substrate prep done properly, waterproofing that actually works, and installs that are still flat and watertight a decade later.
The Work, In Numbers
Hundreds of installations across Calgary and surrounding communities - bathroom remodels, kitchen backsplashes, custom showers, repair and water-damage restoration, and large-scale commercial tile installation. Some jobs are a single afternoon of regrout. Others are weeks of pool tile, framing, and waterproofing. Val takes both.

One of the projects Val is proudest of is the Elevation Place Aquatics Centre in Canmore - featured on our commercial tile installation page. Municipal pool tile is a discipline of its own: unglazed, fully-vitrified porcelain for slip resistance, perfect slope to drain, and waterproofing that has to survive years of chlorinated water and freeze-thaw. The kind of job most residential contractors won't quote.
Schluter Systems Certified
Val holds a current Schluter Systems Certified Installer (SSCI) badge, earned at workshops in October 2024 and May 2025. That covers Kerdi-Board waterproofing, Ditra anti-fracture membrane, and the manufacturer-spec finishing details that separate a tile install that lasts five years from one that lasts twenty-five.
